Besharam Music Review

Star rating: 2.5/5 (Two And Half Stars)
Music Director: Lalit Pandit

Abhinav Kashyap launched his debut film Dabangg with a few monumental numbers. While Munni caught on like a rage, Pandeyji rocked Humka Peeni Hai with panache. The director is back with his second screen outing. This time he has collaborated with Lalit Pandit and gives an album that is neither stellar or extraordinary. It isn’t dull but stale as the music of it seems right out of a bygone decade. Pandit has clearly remained wrapped in the era of his hilt, and the lack of contemporary touch makes Besharam lose its sparkle!

Besharam – Besharam Music Review

Besharam’s title track with flawless techno sounds and Ishq Bector’s mouthing for some gibberish lyrics, makes it for a passable hear with its average music.

Tere Mohalle – Besharam Music Review

Tere Mohalle is an absolute Munni Badnaam sung by the same singer Mamta Sharma. Aishwarya Nigam support Mamta well, and perhaps this is the only refreshing track of the whole album.

Love Ki Ghanti – Besharam Music Review

Love ki Ghanti comes across as an extremely deliberate attempt to replicate Kishore Kumar. Lacking the needed essence from the old world charm one would have liked to hear, somehow Sujit Shetty and Amitosh Nagpal could have been avoided. Amit Kumar would have fit as a more apt choice for the song. It’s difficult to hate the song entirely because of its sweet melody, but I wish it wasn’t this unoriginal.

Dil Ka Jo Haal Hai – Besharam Music Review

Lalit Pandit revisits 90s’ era of music with Dil Ka Jo Haal Hai. Sung by Abhijeet and Shreya Ghoshal, the arrangement of music is instrumentally closer to typical songs that marked the 90s. Also there were clear lifts from Pritam’s ‘Tera Mera Rishta’. Exceedingly unoriginal and stale, the song doesn’t strum the right chords of your heart!

Tu Hai – Besharam Music Review

Tu Hai sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam lack a soul. A large part of the song is based on the iconic song, “Tere Mere Sapne” and for the rest it is a bore that dilutes its rightful feel.

Aa Re Aa Re – Besharam Music Review

Aa Re Aa Re has a strange duo of Mika Singh and Shreya Ghoshal whose voice simply don’t compliment. The song is almost an anthem for eve teasers it seems! The song is too raw for my taste.

Chal Hand Uthake Nachche – Besharam Music Review

Chal Hand Uthake Nachche is a fun track with Daler Mehendi, Mika Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan giving it oodles of energy. It will manage to have you tripping on its entertaining beats for a good while but will lack in shelf value.

The Last Word – Besharam Music Review

It won’t be wrong to dismiss the songs as bores! Barring a few, most of them make for a decent hear. But none of them attempts to push the envelope and create anything fantastic. Lacking the marvel, Lalit Pandit does bring back the aroma of the 90s, but fails to render the needed energy in the album. Reveling in mediocrity, it is an average affair overall. I am going with 2.5/5. Besharam should have had greater spunk but the expectations fail as the music director plays safe by using the best of his old formulas and recipes to precipitate a new product!
