Action 3D is a copy of Hangover film. Director has lifted the entire booze episode in the night form Hangover. But the scenes leading to that episode have been interesting. Posani Krishna Murali approaches hero Sunil to narrate a story. Sunil in return says that he already has a story of four friends and starts narrating it. Though this take off is nice, it’s on the lines of ‘Ala..Modalaindi’. Director might have appreciated himself thinking it as screenplay technique but he could have narrated it straightly also. Goa journey, naughty acts of the friends, 3D effects in between make movie cheerful. Dialogues writer succeeded in creating comedy. But chimpanzee episode and a huge chase for just three thousand rupees hotel bill appear silly.
Hangover is based on screenplay. Hangover director had succeeded in perfectly planning the characters’ entry and exit. But Anil Sunkara completely faltered here. With screen filling up with large number of characters the movie appears cluttered. In the second half, friends who have boozed should fall in confusion. Instead audience fall in confusion. Sudeep episode, Ali and Brahmanandam characters are important for the story but director has not shown enough interest in filming those scenes. For the audience who have watched Hangover’s second half, movie will be completely disinteresting. Anil sunkara tried to create Dookudu brand of comedy with MS Narayana. This time MS imitates Mahesh, Pawan and Siddarth. But the same magic will not work always. As a result, even MS’s character becomes a dud. Whatever points director might have thought as assets for the film became it demerits.
Though Naresh’s timing is perfect, getup did not suit him. Even changed hairstyle did not suit him. Kick Sham does not have much to do. He does not appear in second half. Vaibhav is ok. Raju Sundaram creates fun with punches. Though there are four heroines, no one has importance. Sneha Ullal appears as pub dancer. ‘Swathimuthyapu jallulao’ remix is nice. Raghavender Rao style song is impressive. Apart from that there is not much in music. Re-recording is passable. 3D effects impress. Action 3D appears like a movie made to prove that we can also make 3D movies.
Audience who want to watch 3D movie can happily go for this movie. But a film cannot bank just on technical aspects without strong content. A movie should entertain audience for two and half hours. Audience come to Allari Naresh film for comedy. This movie is weak on that front. Action 3D would have become much better film, if director diverted at least some part of focus he kept on technical aspects towards content.
