Music Director : Chinni Krishna
Starring : Vennela Kishore, Priyanka Chabra
Vennela Kishore’s ‘Athadu Aame O Scooter’ has hit
the screens today, after a long delay. The film’s post-production
activities were completed a long time ago. Priyanka Chabra is the
heroine in this movie and Lakshman Gangarao has directed it. Amanrendher
Reddy and Jagadeesh Chandra have produced this movie. Can Vennela
Kishore make an impact as a hero? Let us find out.
Story :
Govinda Raju is a carefree fellow who roams around
in the town of Bheemavaram. Because of this, Govinda Raju’s uncle
ridicules him and does not accept him as a son-in-law. This infuriates Govinda Raju and he decides to seek and marry a better looking girl than his maradhalu.
Together with his friend
Rajesh (Thagubothu Ramesh) , he travels to Hyderabad in order to find a
girl. He comes across Lakshmi aka Lucky (Priyanka Chabra) and falls for
her. Lucky also reciprocates and they get married.
Just when things start to look up for Govinda Raju,
Lucky surprises him by imposing a strange rule. What is that rule? How
does it affect Govinda Raju? That forms the story of ‘Athadu Aame O Scooter’.
Plus Points :
Vennela Kishore has managed to give a decent performance
in the movie. Thagubothu Ramesh entertains in a few scenes. Some scenes
from Rajendra Prasad’s ‘Chettu Kindha Pleader’ have been used in this
movie. Dhanraj has acted in these scenes. There are one or two
entertaining moments and a few hilarious dialogues in the film.
Minus Points :
Priyanka Chabra’s acting skills are very poor. The
pace of the movie is quite slow. None of the scenes in the second half
are engaging enough to hold the attention of the viewers.
The plot of the film is quite stale and there is nothing new in terms of story or treatment.
The movie is very predictable and logic goes for a big toss in the
film. The hero keeps travelling from Bheemavaram to Hyderabad on his old
 and battered scooter.
The romantic track between the hero and the heroine
never really takes off. None of the songs work and they actually disrupt
 the flow of the story.
For films like this to work, engaging narration and clever dialogues are crucial. This film does not have them.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is decent and it is one of the very
few positive aspects of the film. Editing is very poor. Many scenes
could have been trimmed to speed up the proceedings. Chinni Krishna’s
music is very average.
Lakshman Gangarao does not score any marks as a
director. The screenplay of this film is pretty bad and the bad
direction makes things worse.
Verdict :
‘Athadu Aame O Scooter’ is a boring and slow film.
There is nothing entertaining in the film, except for one or two nice
sequences and a few funny one liners. Despite the presence of a number of talented comedians, this movie never really engages viewers. You can safely avoid this film.
