Artists Performance
Actors:
Ravi Teja: Ravi Teja has two get-ups in the movie. Beared one for
Anjali thread and a fresh look for Shruti Haasan’s thread. Ravi Teja is
in his elements in this movie. He provides great entertainment with a
well-conceived character and well-written dialogues. Ravi Teja is
energetic in comedy and mass scenes. Ravi Teja has not been getting a
right film in the past few years and Balupu will give morale boost and a
well-deserving success to Ravi Teja.
Others:
This is Shruti Haasan's next release after Gabbar Singh and she
provides fun in the film with glamor and verve. Anjali is the pretty
good in a key role. Her strengths have always been spontaneity and
fluency in contemporary Telugu. She has used both these strengths in
this movie. Lakshmi Rai has played the role of herself and she is used
for introducing hero character and for the first song. Prakash Raj’s
character has two shades and performed excellently. Brahmanandam has
given very good entertainment with his inimitable Gangnam and Jumping
Japang dance. He uses facebook and plays temple run on his iPad in this
movie. Ashutosh Rana is good. Adivi Sesh has a small yet important part
and he does justice. Prabhas Srinu does well as Adivi Sesh’s sidekick.
Thagubothu Ramesh adds up to the momentum in the pre-climax episodes.
Ali has another comedy role. .
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction:
The story of the film is not new. But the story writer (Bobby &
Kona Venkat) added a new twist to it by playing with the names. It’s a
formulaic story that guarantees success if executed well. The writing
team has added nice entertainment quotient to the film by keeping the
mass elements in tact. Direction by Gopichand Malineni is good and he
has fair understanding of mass pulse. Screenplay is neat and with an
interesting interval block..
Other departments: Music
by SS Thaman looks good on screen. Background music is neat. Dialogues
by Kona Venkat are very good. They added a lot to the character of
Balupu. There are many nicely written dialogues that entertain us.
Cinematography by Jayanan Vincent is okay. Editing is neat. PVP - a
highly successful serial entrepreneur has become one of the biggest
financiers of South India and has produced his first straight Telugu
film Balupu. He has selected a script that has something for everybody.
Production values are excellent.
Analysis
First
half of the film is entertaining. Second half has story, mass elements
and emotions. The pre-climax and climax episodes are entertaining. Ravi
Teja whose previous hit was released in January 2011 didn’t find success
at box office despite having seven films in a span of 2 and half years.
Balupu will provide oxygen to his career. Balupu has all ingredients
(with a dominating portion of entertainment) to become a decent hit. You
can watch it!!.
